No frills end-of-the-summer link love and blog round up

June was the last time I did the no-frills blog round up. It’s not that I haven’t been reading your blogs – no, look at my laundry pile, evidence I read too much – I’ve been too lazy to piece the post together. I like doing the round up, I like the feeling of introducing my readers to others. Kind of like a meet and greet social club. I think from now on I’ll do this twice a month, so I don’t feel like I have to do it every week and get overwhelmed.

So from my Google reader to you, I give you my favorite summer content.

Writer-Mama’s back-to-school giveaway. Lots of books for the (mommy) writer.

Kristen of We are THAT family is helping a family who fled their Russian homeland due to their faith in Christ.

Life with boys: smashing, bashing and other uncivilized behavior

My latest at New Jersey Moms Blog:

I don’t understand the male mind.

I have two boys and two girls. My girls I get, I know where they are coming from, we are connected in the sisterhood of femaleness. When Susan wants to be alone, doesn’t want me to see what she’s writing or wants the kitchen free to make coffee cake without me watching, I get it. When her little sister cuddles her baby doll and stuffed animals, carrying them around the house as their mommy, I understand that too. I see myself in their actions.

But do I relate to my boys? Not so much. Boys are a mystery. The thought processes leading them into their crazy tricks- where does it come from?

To read the rest of the post follow this link. If you have boys, I’d love to read your comments.

At the fair

No way could I whittle this down to one picture, so you get an assortment. I’m gonna have to label this “not-even-close-to-Wordless-Wednesday.”

That’s my brother, also known as Uncle John. My kids are crazy about him, mostly because he is generous with the gifts and goodies. Yeah, and he’s an okay guy too.

Love this picture for all the colors and bright lights. Plus, it’s of a horse, even if it’s fake. Couldn’t get Lucy to ride, said it was too fast. She doesn’t like fast. Yet.

Another artistic picture. The last time I rode on this, I almost threw up. How’s that for truth in blogging?

Cuddling a bearded dragon. Yes, the modern 4H fair is complete with exotic reptiles. Don’t you love how all my Wordless Wednesdays have either animals or insects? I also love the way this gal is snuggling the dragon like it’s a baby. So sweet.

These guys like fast. This is the year they finally got it – waiting on line is not that big of a deal. Patience, my friends, can be taught.

I have no idea who this chick is, but it looks like she’s really enjoying that funnel cake. You can tell that’s funnel cake, right? The picture is a bit washed out. Trust me, it’s funnel cake. Not that I would know anything about eating it.

Add your Wordless Wednesday post at 5 Minutes for Mom too.
