A simple question for bloggers

Why do you blog?

That’s it. Nothing fancy. No right or wrong answer. It’s me being curious. So sound off and let me know.

Why?

  1. Because when I’m an old lady, I want to look back at our lives and smile. I want to capture all the small moments I’m not likely to remember otherwise. And I’m too lazy and unskilled to keep a scrapbook.

My blog is for me. That others read it and give me feedback is really an unexpected bonus.

  2. My “active” blog is a book blog to share with other readers about books and authors I love. I want to support the authors, help readers find books, connect with other book bloggers and write book reviews.

I started a 2nd blog as a place to share my “personal” writing mostly poems and journal entries that chronicle my journey. It has mostly been shared with family and friends and is only updated infrequently when there is a new piece to add more than anything it is an “anthology” of my inspirational writings (or at least I hope they are to someone besides myself). http://trustjourney.blogspot.com is the 2nd blog.

Monica, I started blogging because, as a writer, I was trying to follow the suggestions of those in the know of building a platform and a presence. I hate this part. I hate promoting myself but it is a necessary part of the writing business. However, writing my blog has turned into my ministry. I write because the Lord asked me to write for Him and now my blog is a part of that purpose. It is for His glory and the benefit and encouragement of others. It thrills me to know that my writing touches others right when they need it.

  4. I started blogging because I love to write, and I thought blogging would be a good way to remember the details of my daughter’s infancy. I still blog because I love being part of a community and reaching people I wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to meet. :)

  5. I started blogging because I’m taking a writing course and my mentor asked her students to start a blog. I keep blogging because I love to write and I want, in whatever way I can, to share joy and the goodness of God with anybody and everybody. I try to pass on a little of Jesus to my readers.

  6. Blogging rocks for being a way to write and express the many rollercoaster ways of my mind – my wonders and struggles; my vents and my joys. I’m still pretty new at it, but already I can just tell this is the venue I’ve been waiting for. It started out being primarily for me, but let’s face it – one doesn’t blog if one expects/hopes it to remain only personal, right? They’ve got diaries and word processors for that purpose. Sure, I hope to strike up a conversation here and there and make some new e-friends. Yeah, thanks for asking!

  7. Long ago, I was told that, as a part of maintaining a healthy spiritual discipline, that I should journal. I absolutely rebelled against the idea of picking up pen and paper – I don’t believe there is enough White-Out in the world to correct all the “typos” I make when writing by hand, and my hand cramps up horribly.

Writing using a keyboard, on the other hand, is comfortable and familiar to me, like an old sweater with slightly frayed cuffs. I slip into it with no great effort and am warmed by it.

So, why do I blog? To say the things that echo between my ears… to encourage others in their walk with Christ… to give to others what was freely given to me… to give flesh to the “What if…” that occurs to me – and to finally get around to practicing that spiritual discipline.

Those are but a few of the reasons I do this :)

    Thanks, Monica!
