I honestly think she did it to become famous. What mother of ONE baby has time to do as many TV interviews as this woman does? I never see her caring for the babies on TV. She doesn't even mention them. She just talks about herself.

I understand she is a church goer (can't say more than that) and her congregation supports her.

Sandra, I wonder what the doctor knew regarding Suleman's circumstances before taking her as a patient.

Is it mentally incompetent to want lots of kids without a job and with a full house already??

Heather, I read she turned it down; she said something about needing to loose the baby weight first. That's a whole other blog post: how far will you go to provide for your kids. Maybe I'll write it sometime. ;)

Interesting post!

I totally agree with you that choosing to have kids shouldn't be taken on without the ability to fulfill the child's best interests. It seems that both the mom & the physician forgot that. I have to believe that the mother is mentally incompetent, but there is no excuse for the enabling doctor.

And who doesn't like attention? Isn't that at the heart of blogging? Look at me! Hear what I have to say!

If she's having babies to get attention, then shame on us for allowing our nation to become so tabloid focused. We are a people hungry for the titillating with the more bizarre the better.

Yes, if you have an "empty space" as she herself has said, He is the only one that can fill it.

I don't know -- I wondered if it was for attention or for a crazy way to make money (like publish a book or appear on various TV shows). I liked your comment that she probably did this because she loves children. But you're right on about needing to get her satisfaction and worth from God Himself, not [even] from her own children.

This is such a great post. I know that she does love children, but she obviously has a much deeper need that 100 kids would never fill.

My kitchen is open too.
