The book, originally self-published by Young and two friends, has now sold more than 10 million copies and has been translated into over thirty languages. It is now one of the best-selling paperback books of all time, and its readers are enthusiastic.

My mother gave me a copy and encouraged me to read it. I still don’t understand why.

Mom probably wants 1. to encourage you in your walk with the Lord (that’s a good thing.)
2. Doesn’t realize there are way better novels out there to do get that job done.
