Just a quick update

Things are going to be a bit quiet here. I’ve got another cold, the cast on my girl’s leg comes off tomorrow and I’m concentrating on my posts for Wednesday (you do know what Wednesday is, don’t you?)

Notice I did say POSTS. I’m thinking three. We’ll see… I just wanted to give you a fair warning, so you’re not freaking out over your over-active RSS feed. I have no intention of making a daily habit of posting so much in one day; and I don’t want to make one huge post Wednesday, so I’m going to break it up.

Oh, and by the way… don’t forget about my latest book giveaway. Right now no one is entered. Are you all without teen boys in your life? Please enter, you could always donate it to your church library.

That’s it. See you Wednesday.

Oh, I almost forgot… you can follow Blog Action Day updates, information and happenings on Twitter too.

On my nightstand: September 2008

For enjoyment:

So Brave, Young and Handsome by Leif Enger

The Fruit of My Lipstick by Shelley Adina (This young adult novel magically appeared in my mail. Did I sign on for a book tour?)

For learning:

The Lolita Effect (The Media Sexualization of Young Girls and What We Can Do about It) by M. Gigi Durham, Ph.D.

For faith:

I never finished Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell, so I’m re-reading it before I read his current book, Jesus Wants to Save Christians: A Manifesto of a Church in Exile.

I almost picked up a copy of The Shack yesterday, but decided against it. Reading about (detailed? grotesque?) violence against a child is too heartwrenching, even if fiction. I am curious about what the fuss is all about though. Maybe I’ll read it with one eye shut.

Previous What I’m reading posts:

No frills end-of-the-summer link love and blog round up

June was the last time I did the no-frills blog round up. It’s not that I haven’t been reading your blogs – no, look at my laundry pile, evidence I read too much – I’ve been too lazy to piece the post together. I like doing the round up, I like the feeling of introducing my readers to others. Kind of like a meet and greet social club. I think from now on I’ll do this twice a month, so I don’t feel like I have to do it every week and get overwhelmed.

So from my Google reader to you, I give you my favorite summer content.

Writer-Mama’s back-to-school giveaway. Lots of books for the (mommy) writer.

Kristen of We are THAT family is helping a family who fled their Russian homeland due to their faith in Christ.
